On Tuesday, Comcast, now owned by NBC Universal, paid 4.38 billion dollars for the rights to broadcast the Olympics in the United States through 2020 to the International Olympic Committee. The agreement includes the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the 2018 Winter Games and 2020 Summer Games and additional events. The agreement provides NBC Universal free to air television, subscription television, Internet and mobile phone distribution rights.
